Dorothy Ellen Price

Dorothy Ellen Price, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother was called home Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in Jacksonville, Fla. Dorothy was born June 18, 1918, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Thomas and Marie Jones. She was employed by the Vigo County Public School System for 25 years and spent her retirement years in Hurley Manor in Jacksonville, and also at Avante of Jacksonville Beach among family and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Price; son, Robert James Price; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Price; grandson, Brian Price; great-grandson, Joshua Price; sisters, Helen Jones and Marjorie Parsley; and brothers, Arthur Jones and Leon Duby. Survivors include two sons, Arthur Thomas Price (wife Barbara), Prattville, Ala., and Ronald Lee Price (wife Pat), Philadelphia; one daughter, Katherine Ellen Boice (husband Patrick), Jacksonville; daughter-in-law, Kay Dawn Price, St. Augustine, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jeff Price, Roxanne Ray, Guy Price, Polly Mitchell, Todd and Troy Price, and Christopher and Jared Boice; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffany Price, Tina Mazzullo, Brandie Sutton, Kassie Foster, Robby, Ashly, and Nicholas Price, Samantha Mitchell, and Ryan and Adam Price; four great-great-grandchildren, Landen Owens, Haden Mazzullo, Riley Shugart, and Price Foster (coming soon); and sisters, Mary Bickel, Ilene Jones, Merle Ellinger, and Gayla Crumm.

A prayer vigil will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and come to the reception immediately following the graveside service at Holiday Inn.

The family is requesting anyone wishing to send flowers, instead, consider a donation, in Dorothy’s name, to Community Hospice of NE FL, McGraw Center, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or communityhospice.com. The hospice, a non-profit, provided loving care. Dorothy loved “Terre Haute,”  “Larry Bird,” and “The Jaguars.” She will take great joy in being “Back Home Again, In Indiana.” Online condolences can be made at:
