Miriam Haring

Miriam Haring, age 92, of Terre Haute, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Union Hospital. Miriam was born on Aug. 10, 2012, in Terre Haute, the daughter of the late Fred and Goldie (Clayton) Layton. Miriam graduated from Garfield High School in 1938, and would later marry LeRoy L. Haring on Oct. 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2002, after 61 years of marriage.

As a devoted servant of the Lord, Miriam was a dedicated member of Maplewood Christian Church for several years. As a very determined woman, Miriam’s gracious, yet hardworking personality will not soon be forgotten. Miriam enjoyed gardening, spending time with her friends and cooking her famous macaroni and cheese. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Miriam leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Dr. Mark Haring, DDS and daughter-in-law, Joan Haring. She was the proud and loving grandma of Todd Haring, Tiffany and husband John Baker, Brad Haring, Shaughn Haring, Emily and husband Luke Naftzger, Zachary and fiancé Shannon Haring, and Harmony and husband Jimmy Ignaut. Miriam also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Miriam was welcomed home to heaven by her son, Michael Haring and daughter-in-law Leslie Haring.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, from 10 a.m. until Miriam’s funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St., in Terre Haute. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at:  www.thomasfuneralhome.net
