TERRE HAUTE — Theodore Jeffers Jr., 88, of Davenport Fla., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. Ted was born on April 25, 1924, the son of Theodore Jeffers Sr. and Lorena Fagg Jeffers. He married Helen Withem on Nov. 7, 1948.

Ted was retired from International Minerals and Chemicals Corp. He served the Seelyville Community in many ways as a volunteer fireman, scout leader, and school board member. After moving to Florida, Ted enjoyed working at Disney World.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Peggy Hutson (Roy Stephen) of Marshall, Ill.; and sons, Richard Jeffers (Sheila) of Terre Haute and Steve (Diane) of Versailles, Ky. He has five grandchildren, Kyle Hutson (Adrienne), Kristen Hwang (Phil), Jason Jeffers (Erin Coons), Joshua Jeffers, and Angie Jeffers; and four great-grandchildren, Savannah Hwang, Lily Hwang, Evangeline Hutson, and Tyler Jeffers. He also is survived by his brothers, Jack (Phyllis) Jeffers, Paul (Betty) Jeffers, and Ken (Georgia) Jeffers; sisters, Marge (Dick) Tanner and Jean Zurcher; sister-in-law, June Jeffers; brother-in-law, Richard (Wilma) Withem; and several nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Jeffers; brother-in-law, Harry Zurcher; mother and father-in-law, Clyde and Thelma Withem; nephew, Mark Withem; and granddaughter, Heather Jeffers.

Memorial services will be held in Florida on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012. A memorial service for the family will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. CST at First United Methodist Church, 702 Plum St., in Marshall, Ill. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Red Cross to help with east coast relief efforts.
