Sierra Cooper

CLINTON — CLINTON — Sierra Cooper, 22, of Clinton, died at 11:35 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Union Hospital Clinton. She was born May 7, 1988, in Terre Haute, to Stephen and Sallie Cassidy-Cooper. She was a member of State Line Christian Church in Paris, Ill., and was a 2007 graduate of South Vermillion High School. She also was a 10 year member of 4-H in Vermillion County, was a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, was 2002 Vermillion County Fair 4-H Princess, was local and state Goodwill Ambassador for Muscular Dystrophy, received the Keys to City of Terre Haute from Jim Jenkins, the former mayor, and was a past member of Girl Scouts of America in Clinton and Terre Haute. She received 4-H honors for Dog Obedience from Vermillion County, and State and National Honors. Sierra was the former Queen Flame and Miss Firecracker for July 4th in St. Bernice. Miss Cooper did volunteer work for Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cystic Fibrosis Association, and community service in Vermillion County.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dale Cooper; maternal grandparents, Charles and Marie Hanrahan-Cassidy; two uncles and one aunt, Tom Cassidy, and Ralph and Terri Cassidy.

Survivors include her parents; one brother, Mike Kaperak (Lisa) of Riley; two  sisters, Rana Cooper of Rockville, and Jessica Cassidy of Clinton; grandmother, Kathryn Cooper of Danville, Ill.; special grandparents, Chet and Jeanette Wallace of Clinton; three nephews, Christopher Worthington, Hunter Wilkinson and Johnny Hackel; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Giovanini Funeral Home, 408 Vine St., with Pastor Nick Elliot officiating. Cremation will follow services, with burial at Calvary Cemetery, in Terre Haute, at a later date. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010.

Memorial contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice, State Line Christian Church Youth Group, Cystic Fibrosis, or do a random act of kindness for someone in Sierra’s memory.
