TERRE HAUTE —
Sept. 23, 1955 - July 20, 2012
Max Edvert Brown Sr., 56, of Terre Haute, passed away at 9:23 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, after a long battle with heart disease, renal failure and diabetes. He was born on Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas, on Sept. 23, 1955, to Max Joseph Brown and Shirley Ann (Gess) Brown. He was the second son of three.
He is survived by his two sons, Max Jr. and Alex; his ex-wife, Karen A. (Hettich) Brown; his parents, Max and Shirley Brown; his two brothers, Mike of Terre Haute and Mick of Dallas, Texas; and his three adopted sisters, the “Anderson Angels”, as Max lovingly called them, Lewie-Bob Hiatt of Noblesville, Ind., Toni Kingsbury in Sellersburg, Ind., and Vicki Burgess of Marshall, Ill.
Max was a 1973 graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School. He earned two associate degrees, one in computer programing and the one in office technologies, from Ivy Tech State College here in Terre Haute. He also earned a certificate in Medical Transcription and was employed for years as a medical transcriptionist starting at Brazil Hospital then moving on to Associated Physicians and Surgeons and finally to working from home for a transcription company out of Tennessee. He enjoyed gardening, loved working with plants and flowers, cooking and baking, and the arts. He enjoyed sketching and painting and had a creative imagination. He believed living a good life was defined by accepting that the world does not revolve around one’s self; but learning patience, compassion and tolerance are the keys to being happy. Max was not afraid to pass on to the next life and often thought about what his next life would be like. “I plan on looking up some old friends to see what’s up! Say hi to my great-grandparents, grandparents, Robbie, Lew, and Marilyn - I want her to sing happy birthday to me!” And just so you know, I am sooooooo, going to have a cold beer or maybe a Blue-Hawaiian *$@#; (a little nod to my buddy Steve Hiatt).
For the record, you all meant a great deal to me. Now I do realize that at times I could be withdrawn and not real sociable, but I truly tried to be a good person, and I truly loved you all. I had so many great memories with all of you. I would elaborate on some of the memories that stick out in my mind, but I really should not go there. Okay, moving on, I want you all to realize that I know I am a better person for having you in my life and I will miss you so, so much.
Max did not wish to have a formal showing at a funeral home. Max prearranged to have his body donated to BioGift, a research and teaching facility in Portland, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be left at: www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
