TERRE HAUTE —

Elbert Lee Cooley, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away at 8:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, in Springhill Village. He was born in West Terre Haute on Sept. 5, 1925, to Hubert Cooley and Gladys Moore Cooley.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine Cooley; two sons, and one daughter. One brother, Donald Cooley also survives. Other survivors include three stepsons, two stepdaughters, 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jenny Mae Cooley, as well as four brothers and sisters; Grandville Cooley, Clarence Cooley, Betty Cooley Cox, and Evelyn Cooley Stark.

He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 145 and was a semi-truck driver for 49 years. His memberships include Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Teamsters Local No. 145. And was Past President of the Teamsters Retirees Club for 10 years.

Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Wheaton and Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 12, 2012, from 3 to 7 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Online condolences may be left at:
