JASONVILLE —
George M. Rhoderick, 90, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Jasonville, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Jasonville, to William Harrison Rhoderick and Opal Irene (Roseberry) Rhoderick.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty J. (Eccles) Rhoderick of Indianapolis, whom he married on Sept. 1, 1945; son and daughter-in-law, David and Tamara Rhoderick of Indianapolis; grandchildren, David and Shannon, Matt, Brandon, Jacob and Ellie; great-grandchild, Alexander; brothers and sister-in-law, James Allen and Deann Rhoderick of Plainfield, and Joe Rhoderick of Jasonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Clarence Alfred Rhoderick, Bill Lee Rhoderick, and Jerry Dean Rhoderick.
He was a Jasonville High School graduate of 1940. He served in the European Theatre during his service as a corporal in the fighting 69th Division Combat Engineers of the U.S. Army.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, in Jasonville, with visitation scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland. Memorial contributions may be made to Jasonville Public Library or Methodist Church Food Pantry. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
