  UPDATE 4: Deadly tornado roars through Oklahoma City suburb

  A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

Kenton Dean Robbins

TERRE HAUTE — Kenton Dean Robbins, 53, of Terre Haute, formerly of Decatur, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital’s emergency room. He was born June 3, 1959, in Decatur, to Velmar M. Robbins and Joyce Foltz Robbins.

Survivors include his wife, Sheri Clark Robbins; a stepson, Christopher Clark; a grandson, Gavin Clark; a sister, Dawn (Steve) Mills of Arizona; and two brothers, Marty Robbins (Mary) of Decatur, and Dan Robbins (Debbie) of Mattoon, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenton loved hunting and enjoyed being involved with Civil War re-enactments for many years.

According to his wishes, cremation has been scheduled. To celebrate Kenton's life there will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Fowler Park, shelter A, (next to the log cabins), 3000 E. Oregon Church Road. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time Sunday, at the park. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at: www.fitzpatrick-funeralhome.com
