CLAY CITY — Faye Margaret Weatherwax, 100, of Clay City, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord, Sept. 10, 2012, at 10:15 a.m. She had been a resident at Springhill Village Nursing Home, Terre Haute, since October 2011. She was born on May 18, 1912, to George and Gertrude Griffith Correll.

She married Charles Benjamin Weatherwax on Sept. 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1997. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Musetta Correll Burns, and her brother, Floyd Correll.

Survivors include her son, David and his wife Sue of West Terre Haute, Ind.; one cousin, Ray Correll, Linton, Ind. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Weatherwax was a 1931 graduate of Clay City High School and received her RN from Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1934. She was a member of the American National Red Cross, the Red Cross Nursing Service and was appointed Deputy Nurse for the Council of Nursing for the Civilian Defense Program in 1943.

She was a member of the former 8th Street United Methodist Church, Senior Citizen’s Club, and American Nurses’ Association. In 1952, she organized a Choral Group and was known for her vocal talent. She sang at many church and funeral services.

She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, writing poems, journaling, and watching ALL the Pacer’s games.

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City, Ind., with Pastor Ray Deeter officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
