TERRE HAUTE — Nellie I. Shepard, 90, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was born on March 31, 1922, to Jesse and Zenia (Perry) Morris. Nellie retired in 1984 from Union Hospital, where she loved caring for others as a nurse's aide.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vern Critchlow and Walter Shepard; and two sons, Larry Critchlow and Gary Critchlow. All her siblings preceded her in death, included four sisters, Charlotte Clark, Mary Nevins, Thelma Tryon, and Lera Morris; and two brothers, Jesse Morris Jr. and Marion Morris. Nellie is survived by her four daughters, Linda Roberts and husband William, Sharon “Susie” Critchlow, Joyce Trotzke and husband Steven, and Brenda Henley and husband George. She also has 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Nellie loved bowling with her friends on the Terre Haute Bowling League and participating in activities at the Senior Citizen Center. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a longtime member of Faith Wesleyan Church in Terre Haute.

Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. with visitation prior from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Revs. Dan Gormong and Ray Austin will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at:
