TERRE HAUTE —
Carrie Elizabeth Tompkins was born Jan. 21, 1983, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Charles H. Tompkins Sr. (deceased) and Brenda E. Tompkins. Carrie departed this life on Oct. 3, 2012, after enduring a lengthy illness.
Carrie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Saint John Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and enjoyed being active in church functions. Throughout her many, many days of not feeling well and being in the hospital, she looked forward to getting better so she could go to church.
Carrie enjoyed spending time with her beautiful daughter My’Kayla. She also loved spending time with her family and friends. Carrie loved to cook and have her friends and cousins over for social gatherings. She was a generous and caring person and desired to be helpful to her friends and family whenever she had the opportunity.
Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Tompkins Sr.; and her baby sister, Baby Tompkins; and Carrie E. Tompkins (grandmother) Ossie E. Tompkins (grandfather), and Albert B. Strong Sr. (grandfather).
She is survived by her beautiful daughter My’Kayla Croom; her special friend, Michael Croom; mother, Brenda E. Strong; sister, Tameka R. Tompkins; brother, Charles H. Tompkins Jr.; grandmother, Nancy E. Strong, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and cousins, (special cousin, Keyonna Stokes).
Memorial services are Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Buckeye St. Terre Haute, IN 47807.
