  UPDATE 4: Deadly tornado roars through Oklahoma City suburb

  A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

TERRE HAUTE — Marilyn L. Beaucar, 80, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012. at 8:39 p.m., in Union Hospital. She was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Terre Haute, to Clyde Herman and Mary Davies Herman.

Marilyn was a homemaker and worked at the Elks Lodge as the restaurant manage and at Steinmart for the last 13 years. She was a graduate of Otter Creek High School, a member of the Ladies Guild and Women's Club in Southborough, Mass, president of the Bay Path Council, involved in Girl Scouts of America, and a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn. Marilyn was on a bowling league in Farmington, Mass. She was a dancer and performed in many musicals and Community Theatre in Southborough. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William Herman.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Palmer of Avon, Conn., Eileen Hammond and husband Brad of Georgetown, Ill., and Barbara Spiridigliozzi and husband Robert of Crofton, Md.; a sister, Sarah Archer of Corydon; five grandchildren, Daniel Palmer, Lesley Palmer, Eric Lucas, Molly Spiridigliozzi and Sarah Spiridigliozzi; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Palmer, Patrick Talarski and Madeleine Talarski; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, July 13, 2012. at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2322 N. 13 1/2 St., with visitation Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., with prayers being conducted at 7:30 p.m. Father Bernard LaMontagne will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of her nephew, Thomas Herman.
