Valerie Ann Marietta, 56, of Terre Haute, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in her residence. She was born November 4, 1955 in Terre Haute to Byron Walker and Dorothy Rudisel Walker. She was a reading teacher at Meadows Elementary School.

Survivors include her mother; a son, Christopher Marietta; a daughter, Elizabeth Marietta, both of Terre Haute; a brother, Gregory Walker and his friend Jerri Boone of Terre Haute; a half-sister, Linda Rukes and her husband Clovis of Terre Haute; two nieces, Amy Walker of Terre Haute, Diana Bager of Muncie; and a nephew, Gregory Walker, Jr. and his wife Martha of Louisville, Kentucky; a special cousin, Dorothy Compton and several other cousins; and four great nieces. Valerie was preceded in death by her father; and a half-sister, Judy Crabb.

Valerie was a graduate of Indiana State University and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and she loved to travel. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 3, 2012 in St. Stephens Episcopal Church with the Reverend Joseph Chillington officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, November 2, 2012 in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street. The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of The Wabash Valley, 400 8th Avenue, Terre Haute, IN 47804.
