SULLIVAN — Paul William Hughes, 86, of Sullivan, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born in Sullivan, on Dec. 9, 1925, the son of Jesse Hughes and Mamie Taylor Hughes. Paul married Rosemary Bedwell Hughes on Jan. 20, 1945. He was a retired Teamster, employed by Lee Trucking and Transport Motor Express. For many years he attended Benson Chapel, in Shelburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary, on Feb. 4, 2001; a still born daughter, Patricia Lynn Hughes; four brothers, Melvin, Max, Gerald, and Eugene Hughes; and two sisters, Florist Briley and Joy Bennett.

Survivors include one son, Michael Hughes (Lizabeth) of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Bryan (Andrea), Aaron (Lynn), and Kevin; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, and Collin Hughes; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Laura and David Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Riggs and Pastor Bryan Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Wednesday. Contact online may be made at:
