TERRE HAUTE —
Billy W. Pierce “Rooster”, 69, of Terre Haute, was welcomed home in Heaven by his mother, Margaret (Prescott) Pierce; his father, Leonard Pierce; brother, Jack Underwood, and the one true love of his life, Shirley A. Pierce. He was born on July 29, 1943, in Terre Haute. Billy worked as a truck driver for 44 years driving for Gibson, Fisher, and Watrin, which he retired, served in the Marines for three years as a PFC and rifleman. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Marine Corps League, American Legion Post 104 and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Billy’s favorite past time was trucking. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed his Red Man Chew and making people laugh. Most of all, Billy cherished the time he spent with his family.
Billy is survived by his children: Edward Pierce and his wife Brenda, Lake of the Ozarks, Darby Fleming and her husband Barney of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas Pierce and his girlfriend Cathy of Terre Haute, Kathy Dunivan and her husband Kenny of Terre Haute, Sarah Buza and her husband Leonard of Indianapolis, Lisa Pierce and her fiancé Jeff of Terre Haute, Billy Pierce and his wife Angela of Terre Haute, Ashley Pierce, Emilee Alsman and her husband Jared and Matthew Pierce, all of Clinton. Billy was a proud and loving grandfather of 16 grandchildren, Kristen Tuberosa, Jason Gregory, Christopher Fleming, Amy Bagley, Kelly Pierce, Wesley Burkhart, Brandy Graham, Paul Carr, Bailey Buza, Stefanie Smith, Chloe Carroll, Leandra Keene, Kay, Xavier, Mitchell, and Zola; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. Also his special trucking buddies, Jay Bird, Woodpecker, Homeboy, Boogie and Hancock.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 27th 2012, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with services following, the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Burial with graveside military rites performed by American Legion Post 104 will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at:
