Richard J. Krone, 95, of Terre Haute died Monday, October 15, 2012, in his residence. He was born February 4, 1917, in Teutopolis, IL, to August Krone and Bertha West Krone. Richard worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, and Conrail.
Survivors include his daughter, Elaine Krone of Terre Haute and a sister, Lenore Simmons of Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Stough Krone; his parents; and a brother, Harold Krone.
Richard was a World War II Army Veteran who received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with the Bronze Star, the American Theatre Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He was a member of the Transportation Communications International Union.
Private funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 18, 2012, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with the Rev. Al Riggle officiating. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to Vistacare Hospice, 3401 S. 4th St., Terre Haute, IN 47802; or the Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S. Fruitridge, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
