BRAZIL —
Robert Guy Anderson, 83, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Exceptional Living Center, in Brazil. He was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Brazil, to Guy and Elizabeth Routt Anderson. Bob graduated in 1947 from Brazil High School, worked at Nance’s Creamery, where he met his wife Mary, was a barber at Central Barber Shop, before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an analyzer for IBM.
He was a 50-year member of Lodge 541 Free & Accepted Masons, served as past president of the Clay County Historical Society, was the Clay Community Volunteer of the Year, a Job’s Daughter Guardian, a member of the Neighborly Chow Hound Association and United Methodist Men’s Brotherhood, UMYF leader, and a Cub Scout leader. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ed Barrick, Gaylord Barrick, Phillip Anderson, David Anderson and Jack Anderson; sisters, Minnie Swearingen and Grace Downing.
Survivors Include his wife of 63 years, Mary Anderson; son, Dennis (Vicki) Anderson of Walled Lake, Mich.; daughters, Jayne (Greg) Thomas of Terre Haute, and Lyna (Mark) Chaplin of Martinsville, Ind.; sister, Bettsene Detzel of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Martha Barrick of New Hartford, N.Y.; grandchildren, Shaun Anderson, Meghan (Charles) Jackson, Robert (Sarah) Thomas, Corey Thomas, Hanna Chaplin, Cody (Cassie) Chaplin, Bonny Chaplin and Natalie Chaplin; great-grandchildren, Juliaunna, Sierra, Jaden, Asher, Gwendolyn, Tyler and Lliam; and several other extended family members.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at Peniel United Methodist Church, in Brazil, with burial to follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Moore Funeral Home, and after 10 a.m. Thursday, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peniel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Online condolences may be expressed at:
