Jean Elizabeth Nairn Howard

BRAZIL — Jean Elizabeth Nairn Howard, 90, of Brazil, passed away Oct. 11, 2012, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. She had been a resident there for a short time. She had been living at Jackson Gardens for the past several years. Jean was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Brazil, the daughter of David Nairn and Christina Glineur Nairn. She graduated from Brazil High School, and on Oct. 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Russell Lloyd Howard.

Jean was a homemaker for their family and loving wife, mom, and grandma. She was a long standing member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling in years past, following Brazil sports and band and she was a loyal fan to the Indianapolis Colts football team.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Howard in 1997; one sister, Betty Wilson; four brothers, Jack Nairn, Bill Nairn, James Nairn and David Nairn.

Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Chavis and husband Gary of Terre Haute; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lyle Howard of Terre Haute and Mike and Susie Howard of Brazil; six grandchildren, Melissa Crowley (Michael), Emily Johnston (Carl), Tammy Chavis, Brent Chavis (Kelly), Michael Howard II (Lori), Andrea Baysinger (David); 12 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Carter, Addison Carter, Cullen Crowley, Jasmine Johnston, Ryan Johnston, Bailey Gyger, Shiloh Chavis, Michael Howard III, Garrett Howard, Lacey Howard, Wyatt Baysinger, and Sydney Baysinger; great-great-grandchild, Maddison Gyger; sisters-in law, Sarah Nairn, Betty Howard, and Melanie Nairn; brother-in-law, Thurston Rose; several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home, with Pastor John Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until services. Light a candle in her memory at:
