TERRE HAUTE —
The untimely death of Mike Sheehan, 58, County Surveyor for the past 14 years and who worked in the office for more than 30 years, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, located at Seventh and Voorhees. Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7 p.m., and again from 9 a.m. until services Friday, at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Mike was born in Terre Haute on Nov. 26, 1953, attended St. Ann’s, State High and Indiana State. He was a loving father, first-time proud grandpa, special brother, proud owner of his companion “Dude,” and was a true and loyal friend to everyone.
Mike was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. He particularly took great pride in collecting for the soup kitchen. He implemented the Access Cover Project, was a member of the Indiana Society Professional Land Surveyors, County Land Surveyor Association, and National Association of County Land Surveyors. He had 30 years experience in surveying in the surveyor office and was always committed to the needs of the citizens. Mike was active in the community, volunteering with many service organizations and participating in car shows. He was very active in the Democratic Party and proud of it. He worked hard for the party and never turned down when asked to help. Was well liked and respected, and felt the same about those he knew. The Man Cave was united with much commitment, joy, and laughter — it will never be the same.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Michael P. and wife Betty of Columbus, Mathew “Matt” and wife Darcie; grandson, Noah, for whom he was looking forward to buying his first sling shot and ice cream; sister, Janice “Tootie” Morris and husband Danny; two brothers, Patrick “Pat” Sheehan and fianceé Christi Fenton, Timothy “Tim” Sheehan and wife Lucy; “Dude,” his dog; several nieces, nephews, special helpful cousin, Chuck Hanley; other relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelda and Francis “Buddy” Sheehan.
As Mike would say, “It’s a great day in Paradise.” Keep those Irish eyes a-smilin’. Rest easy in Gods hands, Mike. “LOVE YOU XOXO”
Pallbearers are Bruce Allen, Bill Bryan, Mike Ciolli, Jim Jenkins, Dave Schimmel, and Tim Seprodi. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Dean, Chuck Hanley, Mike Lewis, Jon Marvel, and John Roach.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Ann’s Clinic and Soup Kitchen
