Versie Jolliff Ault

TERRE HAUTE — April 6, 1915 - Aug. 10, 2012

Versie Jolliff Ault, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Davis Gardens Continuing Care Center in Terre Haute. She was born on April 6, 1915, in Greene County, southeast of Newberry, Ind., and was the youngest daughter of E. Aden and Delia Mae (Bynum) Jolliff.

In 1935, she graduated from Indiana Central College, which is now the University of Indianapolis. In 1939, she graduated from Indiana State College, Terre Haute. She retired from teaching, having taught a total of 33 years in the schools at Newberry, Baugo Township at Jimtown, Switz City, Worthington and Elnora.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur L. Ault, whom she married on Jan. 18, 1942. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in January 2012. She also is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Harold Wessel of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Allen (Stacy) Wessel, Andrea (Vi-En) Choong, Sara (Christopher) Hengel, and Tonya Wessel; five great-grandchildren, AJ and Adelaide Wessel, Cameron, Kailee and Tristan Choong; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta (Alva) Holstine and Victoria (Ross) Howell.

Versie was a member of Breden Memorial United Methodist Church, in Terre Haute. She also held membership in many fraternal organizations, clubs and associations.

A remembrance service for the life of Versie J. Ault will be held at DeBaun Funeral Homes, 85 E. Springhill Drive in Terre Haute, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, with Pastor David Deal officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the funeral home. At 7 p.m. Rebekah services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made either to Breden Memorial United Methodist Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.
