Garnett Faye Muncy Byers

TERRE HAUTE — Garnett Faye Muncy Byers, 91, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in Tulsa, Okla. She was born on Sept. 26, 1921, in Bevier, Mo., to Elizabeth Hill and Robert Lee Muncy. Garnett was a member of Twelve Points Eastern Star, Bedoura Daughters of the Nile, and Veterans of Foreign Wars 972 Ladies Auxiliary.

Garnett is survived by two children, Marla Newport and her husband Dan of Tulsa, and Thomas L. Byers of Terre Haute; a niece that she raised, Patricia Drake of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Lisa Corbin of Wisconsin, Julie and Jerry Cox of Oklahoma, David and Susie Byers of Indiana, Kevin Byers of Indiana, Dustin and Jennifer Newport of Oklahoma, John and Rhonda Newport of South Carolina, Angela Newell of Missouri, Kaye and Bill Vaughan of Oklahoma, Melissa and James Wrightsman Jr., of Indiana; and David III and Nikki Lewis of Indiana; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, and nephews.

Garnett was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leroy Byers, in 1984; sisters, Josephine King, Leola Wellinger, Evelyn Ellingsworth, Virginia Bowen, Tabitha Reynolds, and Ruth Pearson; and a brother, Billy Joe Muncy.

No services are scheduled. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Garnett's name to Saint Francis Hospice, in Tulsa. Online condolences may be made at:
