TERRE HAUTE —
Carl “Mike” Readinger, 66, of Lake Wales, Fla., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away as a result of a massive stroke on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Tampa General, in Tampa, Fla. He was born Aug. 4, 1946, to Darrell and Edythe Readinger in Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Carolyn Dunning. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Lake Wales, whom he married in 1998. He also is survived by two daughters, Angela Readinger of Holiday, Fla., and Amanda Readinger of Terre Haute; two stepsons, Jamie (Melissa) McHolland of Terre Haute, and Jerry (Colleen) McHolland of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Haylee Kelley, Misawa, Japan, Hailey Ann McHolland, Madison Paige McHolland, and Chase Jamison McHolland of Terre Haute, and Justin Nolan McHolland and Isabella Grace McHolland of Fort Wayne; one great-grandchild, Addison Kelley; one sister, Linda (Louis) Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1964 and attended Tool & Die School in Indianapolis. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969, for which he received a purple heart commendation medal for bravery. He retired from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 157 in 2008 and retired with his wife Linda to Lake Wales, where he spent his time fishing and enjoying the warm weather with his beloved dog Sofi.
A private family gathering was on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at his home in Lake Wales. Cremation followed. Donations may be made in his memory to Vietnam Vets Association or the Terre Haute Youth Football League.
