James Lee Miller II

TERRE HAUTE — James Lee Miller II, 28, of Valparaiso, formerly of West Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Winamac, from injuries sustained in an accident that happened while riding his dirt bike. He was currently employed with U.S. Steel Company, in Gary, and had also been employed with the BP Refinery in Whiting. He was a member of Carpenter’s Union Local 1485, in Hobart. He was born July 2, 1984, in Terre Haute, to Jim Miller and Chris (Luedtke) Miller.

Survivors include his father of West Terre Haute; his mother of Indianapolis; his fiancee, Brandy Harmon; two sisters, Jamie Miller Russell and husband Scott, and Jessica Miller; his grandmother, Carol Luedtke; aunts and uncles, Janice Miller, Donald Miller and wife Cindy, Carl and Tammy Luedtke and family, Cathy Garcia and family, Craig and Clara Luedtke, Candace Miller and Curt Luedtke; a great-aunt, Effie Miller; a great-uncle, William Jones; his godfather, Bill Sappingfield; his godson, Jace Kirby; and many cousins including, Tony Miller and Roger Miller. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald “Ozzie” and Arlene Miller, and Carl Luedtke; two uncles, Mark Miller and Freddie Miller; and his godmother, Charlotte Shipley.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, a graduate of West Vigo High School Class of 2003, and during his high school days he was a member of the undefeated West Vigo football team. He loved motocross racing, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and an organ donor, which will help many people continue to live their lives.

Jim’s funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park, with graveside military rites provided by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, and prior to services Thursday.
