Anne M. Roberts

PARIS, IL — June 29, 1931-

Oct. 8, 2012

Anne Marie Dennison Roberts, 81, of Paris, died at 12:47 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Paris Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Paris Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Michael Dixon and Rodger Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery. Friends may call at Templeton Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Anne was born June 29, 1931, near Brocton, the daughter of the late Lester W. “Sparky” and Verda Burton Dennison. She married Jack R. Roberts on Jan. 5, 1952, in Paris. He preceded her in death May 23, 1998.

Surviving are four children, Nancy Zeman of Pooler, Ga., Cheryl (Dale) Curl, Mick Roberts, and Sam (Regina) Roberts, all of Paris; six grandchildren, Michael G. (Kim) Curl of Peosta, Iowa, Kelly (Josh) Cusick of Paris, Tim (Abby) Curl of Lafayette, Ind., Andy (Morgan) Roberts of Mattoon, and Mackenzie (JJ Williams) Roberts of Collinsville; her brothers and sisters, Mary Stoneburner of Paris, Ruth Wieland of Orlando, Fla., Robert E. (Ann) Dennison of Bloomington, David (Sandy) Dennison of Edgewater, Fla., Kay (Gene) Hall of Clermon, Fla., Ken Dennison of Paris, and Linda (Gary) Castle of Orlando; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Ethan and Logan Curl, all of Peosta, Hunter and Jenna Cusick, and Noah Dundas, all of Paris, and Betsy and Caroline Curl of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lynsi Joyce Roberts Dundas; and an infant brother, Billy.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Anne was involved in the life of her family. She was a room mother, made dance costumes for her daughters, and attended basketball, football, baseball, and softball games for her sons, grandsons and granddaughters. She attended every activity she could until her health would not allow it. The family home on Elm Street was a second home for her grandchildren and she was proud of their accomplishments. She loved her siblings and enjoyed their reunions.

A member of the Paris Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, Anne served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and nursery teacher for many years. She was the second woman ever elected to the church session as an elder and later served as Clerk of Session.

Anne was passionate about politics and was a lifelong Republican. She served as a precinct committeeman for many years and was county or district chairman for area candidates including Sen. Charles Percy, State Sen. Tom Merritt, and many others.

The family suggests that, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Paris Healthcare Center or the Community Nurse Christmas Basket Fund.
