Virginia E. Howard

Virginia Evelyn Howard, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Springhill Village. She was born Oct. 18, 1918, in West Terre Haute, to Andrew Jackson and Josephine Elvina (Smith) Sellers. She married James Leroy Howard in 1936, and together they raised five children. Virginia was in the first LPN class of Terre Haute in 1962. She received the highest score in the state of Indiana. She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital and for Dr. Christie. She loved to read. She enjoyed hand crafts and gardening, especially flowers.

Virginia is survived by three children, James David Howard and wife Fran of Morristown, Tenn., Kenneth W. Howard and wife Marilyn of Zebulon, N.C., and Randall G. Howard and wife Linda of Donnellon, Fla.; grandchildren, Greg Hauger (Beth) of Princeton, Steve Hauger of Plainfield, John Hauger (Twila) of Bruceville, Sandy King (Jim Harris) of Indianapolis, Penny Jo Moore (Rick) of Stout, Ohio, Timothy Fugitt of Chicago, Dawn Robins of Buffalo, N.Y., Brent Howard (Anna) Rolesville, N.C., Andrew Howard of Raleigh, N.C.; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Sellers (Arlene) of Palm Desert, Calif., Mary Louise Fisher of Terre Haute, Ralph Sellers of Metairei, La., Harold Sellers (Aeryon) of Woodward, Va., Virgil Sellers (Pat) of California, Raymond “Pete” Sellers (Wilma) of Terre Haute, Chester Sellers of Ecuador, Josephine Harden of West Terre Haute, and Imogene Scheehan of Albuquerque, N.M.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters, Virginia Lee Miller Hauger Howard and Sylvia Jo Fugitt; brothers, Arthur Sellers and Merrill Sellers; and a sister, Elsie Sellers.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Linda Jo Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at:
