TERRE HAUTE — Richard “Dick” William Tanner, 82, of Seelyville, went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father, with his family by his side on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1930, in Kentucky, to Walter and Thelma (Moffitt) Tanner. He was married to Marjorie Jeffers for 54 years and together they raised five children.

Dick graduated from Sullivan High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for five years and the Air National Guard for 30 years. He retired in 1986 as a master sergeant. Dick was a member of the Riley American Legion and a 50-year-member of the William Penn Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marjorie Tanner of Seelyville; their children, Jim Sivertson, Lori Smith and husband Mark, all of Georgia, Bob Sivertson and wife Rita, Tim Tanner and wife Kathy, and Lynda Prouse and husband Tony, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Dustin, Christina, Jared, Siera, Ethan, Colt, Carrie, Kevin, Bobby, Frank and Leslee; 14 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren, Shawn Robert Sivertson, and twins, Amber and Andrew Hammond.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. A funeral ceremony will take place at 2 on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Military rites will be performed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at:
