Coen ‘Barney’ Barnhart

DENNISON, ILL. — Coen “Barney” Barnhart, 91, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., formerly of Dennison, passed away 5:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Tarpon Springs. He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Vigo County, Ind., the son of Walter and Stella Barnhart. He married Virginia Schwab on June 5, 1943 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 2006.

Surviving are a son, Jack (Susan) Barnhart of Tarpon Springs; four grandchildren, Tami Boyer of Marshall, Ill., Stacey Boyer of Marshall, Chantel Landen of Florida and Lisa Wilkey of Florida; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Barnhart: a sister, Ernestine Chilton; and brothers, Russell, Clifford, Gerald and Lorenzo.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
