Bonnie M. Layman

TERRE HAUTE — Bonnie M. Layman, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Union Hospital. She was born in Clark County, Ill., on March 10, 1926, to Manford and Sadie (Darkis) Robinson. In her earlier life she worked at Woolworth’s Department Store, as a nursing aide at St. Anthony Hospital, and most recently was employed as a hospital patient private sitter. She had attended First Church of God and Grace Baptist Church.

Her husband, John W. ‘Pope’ Layman Sr., preceded her in death on April 3, 1992.  She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (Dayton) Faris; two sons, Gene (Carolyn) Layman and John W. Layman, Jr.; one brother, Manford Robinson; one sister, Mary Purdy; her grandchildren, Julie Scott, Melissa Layman, Lauri Shewmaker, Amy Conard, Steven Faris, Rob Layman, Caryn Layman, Kyle Layman, and Cayla Amlett;  23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with Pastor James Haddix and her brother, Manford Robinson, officiating. Burial will be in Dunlap Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Online condolences can be made at:
