Rev. Charlotte Deloris Hay

TERRE HAUTE — Rev. Charlotte Deloris Hay, 80, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord at 12:35 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012. She was born at home in Terre Haute, on Nov. 30, 1931, to William Jasper Bridgewater and Norma Elizabeth (Steele) Bridgewater. Charlotte married her husband Robert Hay “Earl” on Dec. 31, 1948. She was a devoted wife, mother of five, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a cook for local fraternities, such as ATO and Sigma Phi. Charlotte was very involved in her church, United Brethren Church in Union. During her 60 years there, she served as a Bishop, the Reverend, and teacher. Charlotte also enjoyed card games, board games and bowling. She bowled at Vigo Bowl, Brazilian Lanes, and Imperial.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cevert “Sonny” Bridgewater; and grandson, Robby Vest. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Hay; sons, Mike Hay (Debbie), Steven Hay Sr. (Marsha), Bruce Hay (Margie), and Brian Hay (Tabitha); daughter, Suzie Lamb (Terry); grandchildren, Steven Hay Jr., Micheal Hay, Wendi Hay, Mikey Hay, Luke Hay, Neil Hay, Joey Vest, Scotty Vest, Jesse Hay, Nick Hay, Brandon Hay, Dougie Allsup, Heidi Allsup, and Wyatt Allsup; 14 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; and sisters, Rosemary Reberger, Beverly Airhart, Barbara Kingery, and Vickie Earlywine.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive. The Rev. Jeff Bridgewater will be officiating. Burial will be at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the church that Charlotte held close to her heart, United Brethren Church in Union, 2611 Thompson Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
