TERRE HAUTE — James Lee Hegedus, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born April 19, 1942, in Freeburn, Ky., to John C. Hegedus and Alice A. Cecil Hegedus. He retired from General Telephone Company in Terre Haute after many years of service.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War.

James is survived by two sons, Johnny C. Hegedus of San Antonio, and James L. Hegedus II of Petersburg; four brothers, John L. Hegedus and his wife Kay of Louisville, Ky., Jerry A. Hegedus and his wife Sharon of Norwood, Ohio, Henry (Hartle) Hegedus and his wife Helga of Hanau, Germany, and Willie (Hartle) Hegedus of Hanau, Germany; five sisters, Mary Alice Dotson and her husband Jerry of Ypsilanti, Mich., Margaret A. “Toni” Carpenter of Ypsilanti, Memorye L. Hegedus of Rising Son, Trixie Flemmings and her husband Berthold of Eltmann, Germany, and Resi (Hartle) Hegedus of Dumpelseld, Germany; one granddaughter, Maddison Hegedus, of Petersburg; a cousin, Ben Hegedus of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, James L. Hegedus.

According to his wishes cremation has been scheduled. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute, assisted with arrangements.
