Delbert ‘Skeeter’ Marlar

TERRE HAUTE — Delbert “Skeeter” Marlar, 65, of Terre Haute, died unexpectedly at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, in his home. He was retired from Timberland Lumber Company in Brazil, Woods Vending Company and Wiemuth and Son, both of Terre Haute, and also a truck driver. He was born July 30, 1947, in Rockville, to the late Chester Marlar and Mary Elkins Marlar.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra Mullis Marlar, whom he married May 31, 1975, in Terre Haute. Also surviving are his children, Mike Marlar of Texas, Dawn (Travis) Witte of Michigan, Nita (Ronnie) Trueblood of Seelyville, Sheila (James) Mellinger of Hillsdale, and Daniel (Deana) Marlar of Terre Haute; two brothers, Bob (Sue) Kent of Tennessee and Kenny (Karen) Kent of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, Cierra Marlar, Desira Marlar, Michael Marlar Jr., Alexia Marlar, Caleb Witte, Heather Trueblood, Tyler Trueblood, Jesse Mellinger, Bishop Mellinger, Draven Marlar, Cameron Marlar, and Caiden Marlar; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Gabriel Marlar on Jan. 23, 2006.

He enjoyed camping in his favorite spot at the Wabash River and playing pool.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, in Rockville, with cremation to follow. Friends may sign an online guest register at:
