FONTANET — Samuel Lowell Cox, 59, of Fontanet, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his home. He was born Dec. 10, 1952, in Terre Haute, to David Earl Cox and Mary Green Cox.

He was a 20-year veteran at Putnamville Correctional Facility. He also worked for Hughes Aircraft, and was a Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Cox; sons, Levi Cox, Richard Epple, and Nathan Epple; a grandson, Brayden Epple and his mother, Kelly Kenny; brothers, Clifford Cox, Mike Early, Gilbert Davis, and James Davis; sisters, Nancy Kirby, Betty Swiger, and Sharon Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Earl Cox and Mary Green Davis; and brother, Ted Cox

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Levi Cox for his education. Memorial services will be Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home & Crematory, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave. Visitation will be prior to services from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Price will be officiating. Burial will be at Black Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by West Terre Haute Veterans of Foreign Wars.
