Dr. Barbara J. Minnick, 70, of Terre Haute, rode her bike home to be with the Lord, her Savior on Friday, July 16, 2010. She was born on Sept. 26, 1939, in Terre Haute, to Anthony D. Minnick and Eva Stewart-Minnick. She graduated from Indiana State University and went on to the University of Memphis, where she earned her doctorate in business education and administrative systems.
She was a full professor with the Business Education and Administrative Systems program in the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University and retired in 2000.
She was a member of Barbour Avenue Methodist Church and treasurer of the church for many years. She also served as a treasurer for United Memorial Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Central Indiana Bicycling Association.
Barbara loved being in the outdoors and after retirement, she very enthusiastically became an active hiker and cross country bicyclist, hiking and biking all over the United States and many different countries around the world. She also took her great-nieces and nephews on wonderful trips exploring America.
Barbara was a volunteer at Union Hospital, 14th and Chestnut Center, and Habitat for Humanity. She traveled many times to Haiti to work with local doctors and her church at Mountain Top Ministries in Haiti.
Barbara loved her neighbors and was very helpful in transporting them to doctor’s appointments and running personal errands for them. She loved doing research on places she was planning to travel to and was always exploring for new trips to ride her bike on. She loved the Lord, her family, her church family and she especially enjoyed her Bible Study family.
Barbara lived life to its fullest. She was living her dreams. She was a very caring and sharing Christian.
Barbara is survived by one half brother, Anthony “Jr.” Minnick and his wife Beverly; two nephews, Don Minnick Jr. and his wife Melyssa, and Doug Minnick; three nieces, Donna Cutherbertson and her husband Ric, Debbie Minnick, and Tony Lee Marrs; three great-nephews, Craig Lawson and his wife Amy, Jason Minnick, and D.
