ROCKVILLE —
Doris “Babe” Tarter, 68, of Rockville, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in Sebring, Fla. She was a homemaker. She was born July 10, 1944 in Parke County, Ind., to the late Chuck Overpeck and Maxine Myers Overpeck.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Jim Tarter, who she married Aug. 30, 1974, in Hollandsburg, Ind.; a son, Roger (Brenda) Tarter of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Wanda (Alan) Turner of South Glen, N.Y.; one sister, Rachel Myers of Rockville; four grandchildren, Matthew Turner, Shelby Turner, Davis Turner, Dylan Tarter and Cooper Tarter; also her beloved dog, Hannah.
She was a member of the American Legion Fellenzer Post 48 auxiliary in Rockville, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4300 in Sebring, Fla.; and she formerly owned a ceramic shop and made jewelry.
Memorial graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Care and arrangements entrusted to Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
