Rosie Mae (Kent) May, 89, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord at 3:10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. Just nine days shy of her 90th birthday, she was born on Jan. 27, 1923, to Horace Delmer Kent and Rosie Mae (Kashon) Kent.
Rosie was a member of United Brethren Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling, gardening, being outdoors, animals, her dog princess, and her cats. Rosie sadly spent the last five years in the nursing home, due to Alzheimer’s. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed watching her eyes light up when they came to visit her. Also, she loved having visits from animals brought in by family and friends.
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Thomas May in 2000; her parents; son, Lawrence Anthony Schell “Bud”; stepdaughter, Alice Ann Sheets; grandson, Joseph Schell; one great-great-grandson; three brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter-in-law. She is survived by sons, Alfred Wayne Schell “Wayne” and wife Linda, and Terry Eugene Schell; daughters, Loretta Marie Vaughn and husband Ted, Wanda Kay McCammon and husband Billy, Kimberly Rose Schell- Pitts and husband Dean, Tamra Lynn Taylor and husband Charles, Cynthia Jo Cannon and her fiancé’ Jimmy; brother, Richard Kent and wife Nancy; sister, Gladys Phillips; 27 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
