Terry Marie ‘Gatewood’ Lynch

TERRE HAUTE — Terry Marie “Gatewood” Lynch, 51, of Sandcut, passed away Monday morning Jan. 7, 2013 at I.U. Medical Center after a very brief and unexpected diagnosis of Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She was born  Sept. 22, 1961 in Hyannisport, Cape Cod, Mass., to John and Janet (Morrison) Gatewood. They both preceded in her death.

Terry graduated in 1978 from ISU Laboratory School. She was an Honor Roll Society member, band member, cheerleader, Statette Marcher and homecoming attendant. She also attended ISU college. She was a member of Rosedale Post 290  Ladies Auxiliary and an avid supporter of the Post 290 Amercian Legion Riders.

She considered the birth of her daughter to be her greatest accomplishment in life and enjoyed spending as much time with her as possible. Terry enjoyed gardening, growing anything; if she was digging in the dirt, she was happy. She also enjoyed canning, camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, boating, swimming, reading, Harley riding, watching her beloved Colts play football, socializing with all of the close and special friends and cousins she held dearly to her heart. Terry lived a very short, but full, life. She was loved and adored by all who truly knew her.

Terry is survived by her daughter, Brooke Lynch and her companion Caleb; Terry’s companion of four years, Frank James, and their dog “Cooter”; a brother, Tony “T-Bone” Ellinger (Kathy); sisters, Pamela Padgett (Randall), Patricia Neice (John), Heidi Lockhart (Doug), Jennifer “JJ” Ellinger; and a very large extended family and friends and an estranged husband, Eric Lynch. She is also preceded in death by a brother, John Jeffrey Gatewood.

A private celebration of Terry’s life will follow in the mid-Spring of this year with notifications sent out.
