Richard Hanley McKain, 72, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, Jan, 15, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on Dec. 17, 1940, in Sullivan County, to Hezzie and Ruby Hanley McKain. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Sullivan High School, a U.S. Army veteran, and retired in 2006 from Columbian Home Products after 42 years of service.
He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. Richard enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Betty Scott and Sharon Stewart. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hartzburg, whom he married on Jan. 22, 1965; two daughters, Kellee Worland and her husband Greg of Vincennes and Julia Voegerl and her husband Blake of Indianapolis; three brothers, Kenneth (Wilma) McKain of Shelburn, Manford (Sarah) McKain of Terre Haute, and Allen (Loretta) McKain of Shelburn; and a sister Suellen (Billy) Ware of Louisville, Ky. He also is survived by four granddaughters, Morgan Harrison, Makenzie Harrison, Jordan Voegerl, and Bailee Voegerl; two stepgrandchildren, Jon (Bri) Worland and Jason Worland and fiancé Coral Hogan; and a stepgreat-grandson, Luke Worland.
Services for Richard will be Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Irvine officiating. Visitation will be Friday 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
