TERRE HAUTE —
David Lee Houpt, 66, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on Oct. 15, 1946, to William Houpt and Dorothy (French) Houpt.
David enjoyed being in the outdoors, where he could go fishing and camping. He also had interest in carpentry and older model cars. David was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
David is survived by his wife of 14 years, Laura Houpt; mother, Dorothy Houpt; sons, Charles Houpt and wife Heather, and David Caryle; daughters, Katie Houpt, Angela Ibarra, and Rene Walden; brother, Bill Houpt and his wife Marcia; sister, Sharon Phillips and her husband Ed; grandchildren, Charles Jr. Justin, Andre, Lee, Jasmine, and Leshia; and great-grandchildren, Case and Akira. David was preceded in death by his father, William Houpt.
Memorial services have been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church North Campus, 1075 N. Fruitridge Ave. Family and friends are invited to come to the church, from 12 noon until services on Saturday, to share memories and stories about David. His brother, Bill Houpt, will be officiating. Per his wishes, David will be cremated. The family has entrusted DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with making arrangements. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to American Cancer Association. Online condolences can be made at:
