Stanley W. Galenski

TERRE HAUTE — Stanley W. Galenski, 83, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in Union Hospital. He was born in Cook County, Ill., on Dec. 6, 1929, to John and Josephine (Kelboski) Galenski. After graduating from Sullivan High School in 1948, he served in the U.S. Army, 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was retired from Quaker Maid after 28 years and then worked and retired from Pfizer & Company after 14 years. He is a 58-year member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Terre Haute and Veterans of Foreign Wars 972.

His survivors are his wife, Martha (Pieper) Hubbard Galenski, whom he married Sept. 4, 1954; a daughter, Diana (Wes) Shelton of Crawfordsville; three sons, David (Kathy) Galenski of Milford, Ohio, Larry (Lauren) Galenski of Florissant, Mo., and Mark D. (Sue Ann) Galenski of Plainfield; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Cheyenne) Shelton, Amy (Jim) Power, Lisa Galenski (fiancé Allen Moore), Christina (Geoffrey) Ebeling, Landon Galenski, Katherine Galenski, Lathan Galenski, and Matthew Galenski; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Ebeling. He also is survived by two sisters, Mary Hunt and Helen Naiman. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Lynn Diane Galenski; and three brothers, Joe, Wiley, and Johnny.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 1 p.m. EST at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 645 Poplar St., with Pastor Jacob Sutton officiating.  Visitation will be today, Dec. 28, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive and from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church.   Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Strasburg, Ill., at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Online condolences can be made at:
