TERRE HAUTE — John Richard Pugh, 91, of Terre Haute died Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Union Hospital. He was born July 21, 1920 in Terre Haute to Albert Raymond Pugh and Margaret Elizabeth Cline Pugh. John was a retired painting contractor.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Jane Phipps Pugh; three grandchildren, John Richard Pugh III, Douglas Burdett Pugh, and Anthony Alan Brow and his wife Lecia; nine great grandchildren, Breonna Pugh, Ashley Pugh, Douglas Pugh, Johnathan Pugh, Jessica Pugh, Courtney Pugh, Brittany Pugh, Austen Brow and Landen Brow; and many special nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Richard Pugh, Jr. and Larry Lynn Pugh; three brothers; and two sisters.

John was a member of Riley Lodge #390 F & AM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, and Painters Local # 197.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Brother Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 with Masonic Memorial Services at 7:00 P.M. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
