TERRE HAUTE — Jane Cheesman Norton, 61, of Terre Haute, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, in her residence. She was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Terre Haute, to Russell Cheesman and Virginia Ruth Gordon Cheesman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nelson Norton, and by her second husband, John Norton. Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Schatz, LueAnn Pilkington, and Tanya Pilkington (Jody); a son, Nelson Norton and his fiancée Carleen Bemis; 11 siblings, Vickie Rogers (Kenny), Loetta Kimbler (Jimmy), Jimmy Joe Cheesman, Russell Cheesman, Paul Cheesman, Bill Cheesman (Sarah), Kenny Poe, Linda Johnson (John), Darla Robinson, Debbie Cundiff, and Debbie Beck; 14 grandchildren, Thomas Tabor, Deanna Pilkington (fiancée, LaMar Strong), Danielle Hyde (Daniel), Brittany Pilkington, John Cody Worthington, Jodie Lynn Pilkington, Larry Pilkington, Zachary Gilbert, Dalton Schatz, Alyssia Schatz, Cheyenne Gilbert, Brenda Rogers, Kenny Rogers III, and Trish Plummer; 13 great-grandchildren, Chance Worthington, Anna Hyde, Sincere Strong, Chariti Pennell, Emma Hyde, Blaine Hunt, Maddox Hunt, Nelson Norton Jr., Daniel Hyde Jr., Brinley Anderson, Alaiyna Foot, Kendra Rogers and Devin Rogers; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Raeanna Johnson, Deanna Johnson, and Louise Noble; and a brother, Jack Cheesman.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with Pastor Janice Smith officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
