Mary Lou Montgomery McCall

TERRE HAUTE — Mary Lou Montgomery McCall, 84, of Rosedale, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. She retired from Columbia House in Terre Haute with more than 40 years of service. She was born June 17, 1928, in Rosedale, to the late Joseph Madison Montgomery and Bessie Holloway Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Donald Montgomery on Aug. 29, 1993, and her second husband, Raymond McCall on Jan. 20, 2009. Survivors include two sons, James D. “Jimbo” Montgomery of Rosedale and Alan Wayne Montgomery of Trafalgar; one daughter, Carol Ann Brown of Rosedale; nine grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Chad) Lawson, Ryan (Alisha) Blake, Courtney (J.D.) Berry, Jeremy (Sharon) Montgomery, Justin (Natalie) Montgomery, Josh (Caryn) Montgomery, Jennifer (Bryan) Tuttle, Logan Montgomery, and Chelsea Montgomery; 16 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Bob Gray of Florida; and special niece, Janet Gray Peterson of Texas.

She was a graduate of Rosedale High School, where she participated in band playing the trumpet. During school she was called out of the classroom many times to play “Taps“ for a veteran’s funeral. She was very active in the community and attended the Friendly Grove Baptist Church. She was a Rose Valley Development Board Member overseeing the Rose Valley Apartments. She was a former member of the WNO (Women’s Night Out) Club, Swinging Mates Square Dance Club and Brazil American Legion Auxiliary. She was passionate in everything, loved square dancing, cooking for her family, shopping, doing favors, running errands or anything else she could do for a friend or neighbor. She enjoyed watching all college basketball keeping up with every team possible. She loved the Colts, Indiana University Basketball and was a huge Bobby Knight fan. She will long be remembered for her generosity to others.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main St., in Rosedale, with the Rev. Perry Mager officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278 in her memory.
