Perley Morten Hayworth Smith Jr.

TERRE HAUTE — Perley Morten Hayworth Smith Jr., of Terre Haute, passed away on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 1, 2012, at Meadows Manor East, at the age of 89. Perley was born in Terre Haute, on July 30, 1923, the son of the late Perley Morten Hayworth Smith Sr. and the former Mary Elizabeth Morin. He pledged allegiance to our flag and proudly served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Perley worked as a sheet metal worker and was very hardworking. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards (especially poker). Perley was very social and had belonged to the Elks.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Billie Jo Fulmer of Surprise, Ariz.; grandson, Darryl and wife Lisa Fulmer, also of Surprise; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas and Madison Fulmer; stepchildren, David and wife Kathy Bibby of Indianapolis, Darlene Richards of Nebraska, and Diane and husband Dick Huff of Ohio; stepgrandchildren, Rick Huff, Jon Richards, Steve Richards, and James Richards; along with several other stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Perley was welcomed home to heaven by his wife, the former Marceline Miller Bibby Smith; daughter, Angela Fulmer; and sisters, Ada and husband Harold Phipps and Mary and husband Robert Kirschner.

Private burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at: www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
