Rosedale —
Pastor Dwane W. Brown, 62, of Rosedale, went home to be with the Lord at 2:41 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, in the emergency room of Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was the pastor of North 25th Street Community Mission of Terre Haute since 1999. He was born July 30, 1949, in Terre Haute, to the late Wendell Brown Sr. and Rosetta Adeline Franklin Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Linda Sue Kahmeyer Brown, whom he married June 23, 1971, in Colorado Springs, Colo.; also surviving, two daughters, Angelina Brown of Terre Haute and Rosetta (Jeff) Stacy of Rockville; three brothers, John Brown, Wendell Brown, Jr. and Mike Brown, all of Terre Haute; two sisters, Alice (Art) Robinson of Terre Haute and Mary (Larry) Grindle of Rosedale; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Kyle, Drake Eisele, Marlle Eisele, Jacob Dwane Eisele and Isaac Stacy; Uncle Ben and Aunt June Franklin of West Terre Haute; several nieces and nephews; and church family and extended family from Kansas and Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Bertha Wyatt, Guy Brown, Janette and Carl Franklin. He was a graduate of West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He formerly employed by Gartland Foundry in Terre Haute with 30-plus years of service. In 2001 he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure but continued his ministry serving the Lord. In addition to his church, he led a ministry in Terre Haute Federal Correctional Institution, Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, and Conners Center of Lighthouse Mission in Terre Haute. He loved to help anyone in need and in his spare time loved to garden.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main St., in Rosedale, with Brother Tom Roeschlein officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by the American Legion Tony Kashon Post 290 of Rosedale will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
