TERRE HAUTE — Thelma M. Hixon, 80, of Terre Haute passed away at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, in Royal Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Terre Haute. She was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Sandford, Ind. to John Owens and Ella Long Owens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Hixon. Survivors include: her children, Mary Wilson and her husband, David, Vickie Shaffer and her companion, Cliff, Sharon Fleshner and her husband, Mike, and Johnny Hixon and his wife, Diane all of Terre Haute, and Cindy Garringer and her husband, Monte of Lawrenceville, Ill., and Barbara Shaw and her husband, Tim of Clay City, Ind.; a sister, Virginia Davis of Paris, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by: her parents, two brothers, John Owens Jr., and Jim Owens; and one sister, Mary Pruiett.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Merrill Weir officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
