Betty J. Sontag

TERRE HAUTE — Betty J. Sontag, 89, lifelong Terre Haute resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. She was one of nine children born to William and Dessie (Dicks) Rudisel.  Her parents have preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard Sontag; and brothers and sisters, Emil Rudisel, William Rudisel, Joseph Rudisel, Albert Rudisel, Bobby Rudisel, Frances Genung, and AnnaBelle Shidler. Survivors are her son, Larry L. Sontag and his wife Janet; a grandson, Matthew Sontag and his wife Sara; great-grandsons, Nathan and Claytin Sontag; a sister, Martha Schroer; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Rudisel, Dorothy Rudisel, and Violet Brown. She has numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was a homemaker and always proud of her home and family.

The family wishes to acknowledge the care and happiness given to Betty while a resident of the Wyndmoor Assisted Living for 7 1/2 years, and more recently the Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation staff and Hospice of the Wabash Valley.

Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Monday, June 25, 2012, at 1 p.m. Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley in lieu of flowers.
