Walter ‘Ralph’ Odle

ROBINSON, ILL. — Walter “Ralph” Odle, 82, of Robinson, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home. He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Sullivan, Ill., the son of Walter Odle and Lucy Pearl Daugherty Odle. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Case Pottery and for the City of Robinson Street Department. He was a member of the Laborers Union, Robinson American Legion Post 69, the Moose Lodges in Robinson and Casey, the Lawrenceville Eagles, and the Tree of Life Church in Hutsonville.

Ralph married Esther Marie Howard and she survives. He also is survived by two daughters and his son-in-law, Patricia Speer, and Brenda and R. J. Rains, all of Robinson; sister, Edith Anderson of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister-in-law and her husband, Naomi and Robert Miller of Newman; brother-in-law and his wife, Dwight and Evelyn Howard of Villa Grove; four grandchildren, Stephanie Blankenbecker, Beth Ann Littlejohn, Lacey Rains Lowe, and Hillary A. Rains; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; as well as his foster children and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Faye Odle; son, Walter Ralph Odle Jr.; six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. CDT Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Goodwine Funeral Home, with Pastor Slim Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Drummond Cemetery, in Cumberland County. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, and 1 p.m. until services Sunday. Military flag presentation will be conducted at the cemetery by the Robinson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4549. Memorials may be made to Tree of Life, Hutsonville, or to St. Mary Episcopal Church, Robinson, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
