Clarence R. Dunkley

TERRE HAUTE — Clarence R. Dunkley, 78, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 7:59 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, in Terre Haute Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He retired as a carpenter for Carpenters Union Local 133 in Terre Haute. He was born June 8, 1934, in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, to William Henry Dunkley and Martha Ann Vestel Dunkley.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Dunkley, whom he married on June 8, 1991; three daughters, Gloria Miller and Cindy Wallace, both of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and Kathy Willis (Steve) of West Terre Haute; a stepdaughter, Dawn Kasemeyer (Kurtis) of West Terre Haute; a stepson, Michael L. McGinnis of West Terre Haute; two sisters, Mary Massa and Bonnie Majors; a brother, William Dunkley; grandchildren, Angela Mackey (Joel), Heather Knight (Charlie), Brandy Miller, Craig T. Miller (Kathryn), Joyce Stafford, Ashley Phelps (Josh), Brent Kasemeyer, and Ryan Kasemeyer; and great-grandchildren, Kaylei Knight, Kami Knight, Isabela Miller, Conner Mackey, Julie Mackey, Haylei Stafford, Caleb Miller, and Dillon Phelps. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Martin Dunkley, on Nov. 4, 1989; his parents; four sisters, Margaret Cloud, Lela House, Grace Clark, and Velma Hammer; and eight brothers, Ralph, Charles, Robert, George, Hugh, Francis, Lester, and Fred Dunkley.

Clarence was a  member of St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church with Father Bernard Head officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park with military graveside rites by Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute. Friends are welcome to join the family at the funeral home Saturday morning for a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. and procession to the church. The family kindly suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis foundation with envelopes available in the funeral home.
