Montezuma —
George L. Ross, 83, of Montezuma, passed away at 6:18 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2012, in his residence. He was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Mecca, to Cecil and Mary Ross. He served in US Army and US Navy. He was a boilermaker for Local 374.
He was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club and the Montezuma Christian Church, where he served as an elder. He married Donna Wittenmyer Garrett on Feb. 15, 1975, in Rockville, and she survives.
He also is survived by his children, Lonnie Judy Ross (Pam) of Rockville, Shelly Ross Moretto (Tony) of Rockville, Melissa Ross Brown (Roger) of Vero Beech, Fla., Joanna Vandevender (Ron), Tony Garrett, and Larry Garrett, all of Montezuma; a sister, Mona Ross Baker (John) of Greenfield; a brother, Paul Ivan Ross of Mecca; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Jones and Linda Herschberger; three brothers, Ben Ross, Larry Ross and Bob Ross; and a daughter, Melody Ross.
Services are noon Wednesday at Montezuma Christian Church, with the Revs. Craig Arnold and Steve Gommel officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Parke County Veterans Organization. Brown-Mack Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
