ROCKVILLE — Ethel M. Coleman, 93, of Victorville, Calif., formerly of Rockville, Ind., died at 7:05 a.m., Nov. 19, 2012, in Desert Knolls Convalescent Hospital in Victorville. She was a homemaker.

She was born May 25, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Walter S. Murphy and Frieda I. Michael Murphy. On June 17, 1939, she married Ernest L. “Ernie” Coleman, and he died Feb. 8, 1974.

She was the oldest of

five children.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Emma, in 1927; two younger brothers, Clarence and Walter “Tom” Murphy; two sons, Larry E. Coleman, in 1993, and Richard E. Coleman, in 2009.

Survivors include one daughter-in-law Chris Coleman (Richard’s wife); two grandchildren: Michael and Mark Coleman; four great-grandchildren: Robert, Kathy, Samantha and Addison; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Rosemary; five nieces: Kathy, Cindy, Debbie, Brenda and Lori; one nephew, Dan; and their families.

She moved to Montezuma, Ind., in July 1922, and lived in Rockville until 2007, and was currently residing with her daughter-in-law in California.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, in Gooch Funeral Home, at 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. Dana Spurgeon officiating. Memorial visitation will be one hour before services. Burial has already taken place in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Friends may sign an online guest register at
